The Southern Peninsula is probably my favourite part of Cape Town. I love it beyond anything. Many will argue but for me other areas -- the Winelands, the Waterfront, the West Coast -- don't hold a candle to the South Peninsula!
It's the casual meandering feeling that steals over me... I love St James with its precipitous paths instead of streets. I love Kalk Bay -- the colourful fishing boats bobbing in the harbour and the quaint Main Road shops like Cape To Cairo and Olympia Café. I love the soaring heights of the mountains rising to Silvermine behind Boyes Drive and the Naval atmosphere of Simonstown. Crossing over to the Atlantic side, I love Long Beach stretching for miles between Noordhoek and Kommetjie, with the wreck of the Kakapo in the middle. I love the blurred edges of Misty Cliffs and the wildness of Cape Point ...
I'm sure you get the picture! And luckily there are loads of places to stay while you also enjoy this special part of Cape Town.
